Where do I start ???? I can safely say that my dad ( Les ) would not be with us today if it wasn't for the incredible team in Fern Dean. They did what every other Nursing Home refused to do, they gave my Father a second chance at life. They looked beyond his years and focused on this amazing man that was so depressed and saw in him a will to carry on and indeed excel in many different ways. I really find it hard to put into words the exceptional care and the incredible support they have given my Father. He is a different man now and only today was dancing with one of the nurses at the inaugural BBQ. I really could go on forever but I'm sure you would rather find out yourself if you decide to send your loved ones to Stepaside. A big shout out to Asha who has truly given my dad many many more incredible memories and the will to look forward and to feel wanted and part of a new family and community. My mother recently stayed at Ferndean in Stepaside for convalescent care, and I cannot praise this place highly enough. From the moment she arrived, the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring, treating her with dignity and kindness every single day. The interior is absolutely beautiful, the gardens and day rooms are peaceful and relaxing, and everything is spotless and fresh — it feels brand new. The environment is calm and uplifting, which made such a difference to her recovery. Meals were fresh and nourishing, and the team went out of their way to make sure she was comfortable and well looked after. She not only regained her strength but felt truly valued and supported throughout her stay. I was initially quite apprehensive about choosing a nursing home for a period of respite care for my mother. As a very independent woman, she had always believed that a nursing home wouldn't be for her. However, after a two-week stay at Fern Dean, her perspective has noticeably changed.
