Community

Life at The Fern Dean is normal yet full of meaningful experiences for our residents. Working in partnership with families we want residents to enjoy their lives to the full. The communal rooms provide opportunities for social engagement and residents are central to what activities are planned. Residents stay active and engaged in interesting activities and there is something for everyone. Activities will be organised to ensure that The Fern Dean Stepaside is integrated into the local community including with schools, visiting choirs and Park Run.

Accommodation

The fern Dean Stepaside comprises 125 elegant bedrooms set over 4 floors. All bedrooms are ensuite, and contain a selection of furniture and facilities to ensure residents comfort. Bedrooms are airy and full of natural light. Relaxing colour schemes and soothing fabrics are used throughout.

It’s often the little things that matter most and bringing items from home to personalise the environment is encouraged.

Gardens

The Fern Dean Stepaside has lots of indoor and outdoor space. The gardens are a lovely space for residents to enjoy the outdoors sitting in the sunshine, reading, walking or enjoying many other activities.

Social Engagement

Communal rooms and breakout spaces provide opportunities for social engagement. A wide range of indoor and outdoor activities are available to meet residents’ needs and interests. There is something for everyone. Particular emphasis is placed on activities that promote physical, cognitive, spiritual and social wellbeing. These include music, exercise sessions, arts & crafts, storytelling, walking programme, current affairs, specialised dementia therapies and many more.

Local Community

The local community is very much a part of life at The Fern Dean. Our prime location will enable our residents to remain part of the community. We maintain strong ties with the broader community: welcoming volunteers, students and local organisations to enrich the lives of our residents through intergenerational activities, outings and social events. Residents can continue their involvement with local activities and our residents can enjoy attending local events in the community or just going out for a coffee or an ice-cream.

We have an open visiting policy and other than at meal times visitors are welcome at any time.
